Almost Ready

The new, new webpage is almost finished and should take the place of the old rickmayotte.com within the next few days. I've been working on it for a while because I never really liked the setup or layout of the old, new webpage. I like the new pages much better. They're easier to get around, the layout is more intuitive and it includes this blog! I'll post an update when it goes live.

Having Your Blog Appear on Your Website

I'm back! As some of you may know I had a blog for a long time on my webpage but when I changed domains I lost all of my past posts. I was frustrated with the whole thing and couldn't find a way to have my blog appear on my own domain webpage, but recently I found a way to do just that.

 It turns out that it's super easy to have your blogger blog also appear on your website simply by adding a few lines of code to the html of your webpage. I want to give credit where it is due so here's a link to the Youtube video that I found that showed me how to do this. Just follow the link below.

Moved the Blog

Well I found a way to have a blog on my webpage.  I had to delete my wordpress pages and  start a blogger account.  They say that wordpress is supposed to be easy to use, and it is to a point, but if you want to customize it, than you had better be up on your coding skills.  I could not find a way to put my existing blog on my webpage through wordpress - not without taking coding courses - so I lost a lot of my past blogs, but not all of them.  The post below is an older post about block printing using MDF.

I made the blockprints from the MDF block today.  I was impressed with the way that the MDF performed.  I filmed the process for a youtube video but because of a glitch I lost the footage for the first run that I made.

I had already cleaned and dried the MDF block (and every thing else) before I discovered that I had no footage for the video, so I started all over and did another print run. The MDF performed fine, even after I had soaked it pretty well in the cleaning process.  In fact it had completely dried before I made the second run but the edges remained sharp and it did not become crumbly as I had feared it would. It has now been soaked in the cleaning process twice and it still looks and feels good.  I may make a few prints with it in a few days just to check it out.

I will be making a print in the same style to compliment “The Farmer”, called “The Farmers Wife” and I will use MDF to do it.  In fact I plan to make some more detailed prints with it in the future to see how it will perform.  Below is a picture of one of the prints of “The Farmer”.
